Meet the People Behind dorevantiqa

We're a small group who believe budgeting shouldn't feel like punishment. Just real guidance from folks who've been exactly where you are.

Elspeth Carmichael, Co-Founder of dorevantiqa

Elspeth Carmichael

Co-Founder

Started dorevantiqa in 2019 after spending years watching friends struggle with overcomplicated finance apps. Elspeth grew up in regional Victoria where money was tight but expectations were high. She studied economics at Melbourne Uni but found most financial advice completely disconnected from how regular people actually live. Her approach? Strip away the noise and focus on what genuinely works when you're juggling rent, groceries, and trying to save something for later.

Tomasz Władysław, Co-Founder of dorevantiqa

Tomasz Władysław

Co-Founder

Moved to Sydney in 2015 and quickly realised Australian banking systems felt designed to confuse rather than help. Tomasz worked in financial planning for a decade before getting fed up with products that prioritised complexity over clarity. He believes your budget should take five minutes to understand, not five hours. His specialty is breaking down financial concepts that sound intimidating into plain language that anyone can actually use without needing a finance degree.

We built dorevantiqa because we were tired of budgeting tools that felt like homework. Your money situation is personal and often stressful enough without adding layers of unnecessary features. We focus on helping you see where your money goes, make adjustments that actually stick, and build habits that work with your life instead of against it.

Our Extended Team

Everyone here has dealt with budget stress firsthand. That experience shapes how we build and who we help.

Siobhan Flannery

Lead Financial Educator

Joined us in early 2023 after working with community financial counselling services across Queensland. Siobhan spent years helping people in actual financial crisis, which gave her a pretty clear view of what advice works when things get real. She designs our learning materials and workshops with one rule: if someone can't apply it this week, we don't teach it.

K

Kasper Lindström

Product Development

Handles the technical side of our platform. Kasper's background is in UX design, and he's somewhat obsessive about making sure every feature feels intuitive. Previously worked at a fintech startup that collapsed under its own complexity, which taught him valuable lessons about what not to build.

P

Pernille Søgaard

Client Support Specialist

First point of contact for most questions. Pernille came to us from customer service at a major bank where she got frustrated watching policy get in the way of actually helping people. She answers queries, runs our twice-monthly Q&A sessions, and keeps us honest about whether our guidance makes sense to real users.

D

Dimitri Solomou

Content Strategy

Writes most of what you read on our site and in our resources. Dimitri's a financial journalist by trade who got tired of writing articles nobody could actually use. He focuses on practical scenarios and case studies drawn from conversations with our community rather than theoretical financial advice.

How We Actually Work

We're based in Coffs Harbour because frankly, Sydney rent was eating our budget. Being outside the major cities keeps us connected to the reality most Australians face when managing money.

Our team meets twice a week to review user feedback and adjust our materials based on what people tell us they need. We don't have formal hierarchies or endless meetings. If you spot something that needs fixing or improving, you own making that change happen.

Everyone on the team uses dorevantiqa for their own finances. Sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised how many financial products are built by people who'd never actually use them. We test everything on ourselves first.

We're hiring a part-time workshop facilitator for late 2025. If you've got experience running educational sessions about practical money management and can explain concepts without jargon, reach out through our contact page.
